Engineering Management
Through IGC’s engineering management know-how and utilizing the associated companies, the following procedure has become our guideline for good engineering practice.
STUDY AND PREPARATION
During the initial stages of process plants projects, an investigation of the prospective plant location is made and all the necessary data are secured for feasibility study and cost determination. Soil condition, access, local laws and required codes are investigated and the availability, productivity, cost of local construction labor and contractors are analyzed.
PROCESS ENGINEERING
IGC maintains creative and versatile process engineers for the basic design studies, calculation of heat and material balances, specifications of the entire item of process equipment and P & I diagram. Review of plot plan, critical piping routes and selection of equipment Is additional functions.
PROJECT ENGINEERING
Project engineering prepare technical specifications, reviewing design of the equipment, preparation of plot plan and engineering flow-diagram, transmitting the technical design information to the design and drafting group, technical surveillance over drafting work, procurement and coordinating the efforts of the different departments and the field.
DESIGN AND DRAFTING
The actual preparation of plans, drawings and bills of materials which are required for the fabrication of equipment and construction of plant are handled by design and drafting group.
PROCUREMENT
Purchasing, inspection and expediting are essential activities. Under the overall supervision of the procurement manager, preparation of all bid inquiries and purchase orders are handled under close coordination with project engineer in order to produce superior results from the technical, commercial and project schedule stand-points.
COST ENGINEERING
A systematic applicable knowledge and experience is required for cost estimating, analysis and control to produce the most economical product within the guidelines which is established for the job. Cost control is most effective in the early developmental step with proper decisions and is being made in according to process design, equipment specifications and layout.
PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
Under the direction of the project manager, a schedule is prepared in co-operation with the construction department. Delivery pattern of major equipment and commodities are established. Throughout the job, all the departments concerned continually review the schedule in order to keep everything up to date with the latest information to minimize any slippage and to assure the realization of the projected completion date.
COMPUTER RESOURCES
IGC is committed to the use of state-of-the-art computer system, hardware and software to aid the engineering and design of the projects. Personal computers and CAD station are linked via local area networks (LAN) to take advantage of a common data base and a large inventory of commercially available software. This is further supplemented by a number of special application software programs developed in-house. Many other especially software packages can be accessed via external time-share services between our associate companies.
COMMISSIONING AND START - UP
To round out our program of complete services experienced and trained operators and process-engineers are available for the initial start-up of new facilities.
